How Posse’s are Formed
OWSA gets a lot of questions about how posses are formed. In the years past the blank posses sheets were held until after the Shooter’s Meeting on Monday morning. The keeper of the posse sheets then placed all the clip boards on a table and it was a “scrabble” to get a clip board or get someone to put your name on the board! All of that has changed in the recent years since the modern invention of computers has taken over our world. We no longer wait to form posses after the Monday’s Shooters Meeting. So many of our shootists come with friends and family or plan a rendezvous with shootists from other parts of the country, and/or prefer to shoot among people they know. Other shootists come alone, in hopes of meeting new “shootists” from different areas. Either way, our new scoring program allows us to pre-assign posses and prints our score sheets in legible alphabetical order or in shooter number order, which helps the scoring team get the scores in quickly and more accurately.
If you have a group that would like to shoot together, it’s always easier to have all the entries mailed in one envelope with a note to the registrar. If this is not possible, please make a note on the registration form as to whom you would like to shoot with.
All shootists will be placed on posses prior to the 8 a.m. Monday Shooters Meeting. The registrar will be available at the tent beginning on Saturday before the “Shoot-out” begins, to verify your posse number and where you will began shooting.
